Emily Lau was born in China in 1979 and moved to Hong Kong in 1986. She studied art education at the Hong Kong Institute of Education and worked as an art teacher after obtaining the certificate of education in 2002. In 2007, she graduated from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, major in oil painting and minor in printmaking. Her works are mainly mixed media painting and prints.
