Jiang Chun
was born in 1943, is a native of Changshu city, Jiangsu province. In 1962 he graduated from the Suzhou Arts and Crafts Institute in painting. Currently, he is a member of the Chinese Artists Association, the consultant of Suzhou Artists Association and the executive editor of Suzhou Daily.
Jiang Chun specializes in watercolor painting while he is not only limited to it. He takes a realistic approach in his works which is tender and natural, with both sentiment and scenes. He has distinctive views towards art and an exceptional appreciation of beauty.
In as early as the 1990s, his works about water-village of Jiangnan was highly acclaimed by both local and overseas art lovers. In recent years, he frequently visited countries in Europe and the US where he was strongly inspired. His passion for creating paintings of foreign scenery then began. He conducted studies and research in six years time and presented a new series of beautiful sceneries of Europe and the US. His painting technique has reached a new horizon as he has not only shown sophistication in his works, but also has special artistic jargons. He was known to be a master of water-color paintings.
Jiang has joined the national art exhibition regularly and his works were exhibited in Europe, Asia, the US, Japan and Hong Kong. Many of them were collected in the British Museum, Jiangsu Art Gallery and Guangzhou Art Gallery. His achievements in art can be found in ¡°The Chinese Artist Dictionary¡± and ¡°The Directory of Contemporary Chinese Artist¡±. He has art albums such as ¡°Jiang Chun - From Jiangnan with Love¡±, and ¡°Foreign Scenery Collections by Jiang Chun¡±. |
