Chan Kauon
was born in 1946 in Dongguan, Guangdong province. He graduated from the Hong Kong fine art academy in 1962. In 1966, his debut solo exhibition was held in the Big Hall of Hong Kong.
In the past 30 years, Chan Kauon has been permanently researching and exploring in art creation. In his early years, he poured much time into the intensive study of watercolor sketching in realistically way, and later he diverted his energy in Chinese traditional ink on paper paintings. Now he is trying to achieve an approach of thin color splash to depicting the scenery in Hong Kong, and adopted the modern deep intense color to creating the Illusion of Hong Kong Series
His works have been shown for almost 70 and more times in Hong Kong and abroad, and are widely collected by the Hong Kong Art Museum, Beijing Art Museum, Hong Kong Trade Developing Center, and Civil Planning Bureau of Jucheng, Hong Kong Telecommunication Bureau, and other commercial groups and individuals.
His masterpieces have been included sequently in the ¡°China Modern Painting and Calligraphy Thesaurus¡± published in 1989, the ¡°Famous Artists of Modern Painting and Calligraphy Thesaurus¡± in 1991, and the ¡°World Chinese Art Almanac¡± in 1996.He is now director of the Hong Kong Artist Association, Chairman of the Fine Arts committee.
Publications as the ¡°Collection of Prompt Sketching by Chan Kauon¡±, the ¡°Hong Kong Under the Brush of Chan Kauon ¡±, and the ¡°Vista series by Chan Kauon¡± are all his crystallizations of hardworking.
