Chen Yongkang was born in 1944 in Guangzhou City, capital of Guangdong Province. Currently he is a national second-class artist, and is the director of the Chinese Artists Association, Guangdong branch and the Guangzhou Artists Association, vice director of the Guangzhou Chinese Painting Committee.

 

His works have been shown in various city, provincial and national art exhibitions, and awarded the second prize. He specializes in flower and bird style of freehand brushwork in traditional Chinese painting.  He  published his catalogue of “Selected Paintings of Flowers and Birds by Chen Yongkang”.

 

1988   Lectures and solo show in U.S.A

1989   Created big painting named “the Blossom of the Phoenix Flower”.for the Tian’anmen Tower.

1989   Awarded gold medal in Japan at the International Cultural Exchange Exhibition.

1992 “Spring Peony by Chen Yongkang ” held in Hong Kong.

2000 “Message of Spring” was awarded “Excellent Pieces of Chinese Painting Sketches”; “Flower and Bird” was awarded gold medal at “the Contemporary International Ink on Paper Masters’ Works Exhibition” held by the Thailand  Artists Association.
