Liang Yan
Male, born in 1943, is a native of Qingyuan County, Hebei Province. He is now a member of the Chinese Artists Association, vice-director of the Jilin Art and Literature Association, a professional artist in the Jilin Painting Academy. He is rated national first-class artist and is granted special allowance from the State Council for his outstanding expertise.
Liang was born in Taiheng Mountain. He has been a farmer and miner. With his outstanding artistic talent and experience of living in hardship, he has taught himself to be an artist. He specializes in portraits of mountain people. No matter young or old, man or woman, all of his models are filled with flesh and blood, soul and strong characters. His works exude a magnetic appeal which deeply touches and impresses the audience.
He has been awarded five Gold medals in the International Art Exhibition from 1993 to 1999. His works have been collected by the Chinese Art Gallery, Chinese Historical Museum and Tianjin Art Museum. His biography and some of his works can be found in almanacs such as ¡°Who¡¯s Who of Chinese Artists and Collected Works of Famous Contemporary Chinese Artists¡±. His accomplishment has been reported by the Central TV Station of Beijing, People¡¯s Daily, Art Magazine, Literary News, Guanming Daily and Wen Hui Daily.
He has held solo exhibitions in Beijing, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia and joint exhibitions in South Korea, Canada, Singapore and Taiwan. He also participated in the International Exhibition of Masterpieces by Chinese Artists, Touring Exhibition of the Twelve Famous Asian Artists and also the first exhibition of the Chinese Painting Institute and the International Ink and Wash Painting Exhibition. His works have been shown in the National Art Exhibition in China for many times. His work ¡°Under the Sun¡± was acclaimed as the best painting in China of the decade from 1979 to 1989.
