Guan Yuliang
 
Male, born in 1957, is a native of Heilongjiang. He is a member of the Chinese Artists Association, professor at Shenzhen University and is rated national first-class artist by the government. Formerly, he was also president of the Guangdong Friends of Painting Association, committee member of the Heilongjiang Chinese Painting Society and an art editor at the Heilongjiang Daily.
 
Guan was graduated from the Arts Department at Harbin Normal University in 1979 and from Chinese Painting Department at the Central Arts Institute in 1987.
 
Guan specializes in portraits and landscapes. His works are characterized by coldness, serenity and mysticism. They also embody a strong power, which is not explicitly displayed but implied through a transcendental and metaphysical dimension. They are not only modernistic but also original.
 
Guan¡¯s ink paintings pioneer a new way in Chinese paintings, building from a solid base on traditional Chinese painting skills after a long period of contemplation and research. His expression techniques and spiritual meaning represent a great leap in Chinese painting and attract the attention of the Chinese painting circle.
 
Throughout his long career in artistic production, Guan held a number of exhibitions all over the world and published a lot of works and articles. From 1985 to 2007, Guan held more than 20 solo exhibitions in Beijing, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Russia, U.S., France, England, Germany, Japan and Canada. Guan published ¡°Paintings of Guan Yuliang¡±, ¡°The Art of Guan Yuliang¡±, ¡°Paintings of Guan Yuliang¡±, ¡°Style of Guan Yuliang: Ink and Color¡±, ¡°Style of Guan Yuliang: Ink Expression¡± and ¡°Style of Guan Yuliang: Oil Colors¡±.
