Xu Xi
male, born in 1940, is a native of Shaoxing county, Zhejiang Province. He is a member of the Chinese Artists Association.His works always leave an impression of distinctive, refreshing quality on the viewers and depict a sense of time, place and life. He is especially good at capturing the natural beauty of South China with simple brushstrokes. Several years ago, he has migrated to the United States and his painting subjects include scenery all over the world.
Ten of his works are collected by the Chinese Art Museum, Tokyo Art Museum, The Eighth International Painting Exhibition, American Philadelphia Country Club Gallery, Japan World¡¯s Fair, and Vienna UN Headquarters.
In 1982 to 1988, three of Xu¡¯s paintings were awarded First prize, Second prize and Third prize respectively in several international painting competitions. Two other paintings won First prize in Asia.
He was shortlisted in ¡°The Dictionary of International Biography¡± (¢ú¢ú¢ó Edition) and ¡°International Who¡¯s Who of Intellectuals¡± (¢û Edition) in 1993. He was also elected as a Lifetime Fellow, by the International Biographical Center, Cambridge of England. He received the ¡°Distinguished Leadership Award¡± and was selected as the ¡°Man of the Year¡± in 1993 by the American Biographical Institute. He received the ¡°20th Century Award for Achievement¡±, and the ¡°Outstanding Contribution as an Artist¡± from the International Biographical Centre in 1994. In the same year, he was awarded ¡°Most Admired Man of the Decade¡± by the American Biographical Institute. He also received an Honorary Appointment from the Research Board of Advisor in 1994.
