Lam Shiu Chi was born on 22nd December 1940 in Happy Valley, Hong Kong. Her father was Lam Wun Ping, a famous theorist of literature and art. As a result, she was deeply influenced by both Chinese and Western cultures since she was young.
Lam¡¯s artwork has been exhibited in different countries and cities for many times, including the United States, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Korea, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Macau, Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Harbin, Shenyang, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanning and Guilin. She has also published nearly a few thousand illustrations for many local and overseas art magazines, newspapers and periodicals. Her artworks have been edited into Overseas Chinese Achievements Extensive Collection, the Collection of One Hundred Elite Artists and the Records of Hong Kong Art Museum. One of her artworks ¡°Home of the Peacock¡± is collected by the Art Museum of Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 1991, ¡°Art Album of Lam Shiu Chi¡± was archived and collected by the Hong Kong Central Library. In 1992, she was awarded the ¡°Outstanding Achievement on Art Creation for Female in the World Certificate¡± by the American Biographical Institute.
Lam is now a professional painter, the founder of Shiu Chi Gallery and a permanent member of the Association for Hong Kong Painters.
