Gao Nan
Born in China in 1963, Gao Nan lost his hearing due to childhood sickness. He studied with noted painters including Cen Xue Gong, Luo Ci Bing and Mou Kang Hua. In 1982, his work ¡®Painting of the Three Gorges¡¯ was chosen to participate in the ¡®National Art Exhibition for Handicapped Persons¡¯ in Spain and ¡®Art Exhibition for the International Handicapped Persons¡¯ in Yugoslavia. In 1993, he took part in the ¡®Art Exhibition of Sichuan Province¡¯ as well as ¡®Art Exhibition for the International Panda Festival in Chengdu¡¯. In 2004, he received the first prize in the Art Exhibition of Artists in China and Korea. In 2007, he received the Award of Excellence in the Ta Kung Pao Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Golden Bauhinia Art Cup in celebrating Hong Kong¡¯s 10th anniversary of return to China.
Gao Nan moved to Hong Kong in 1994 and he had held solo exhibitions in Hong Kong in 1995 and 2000. In 1997, he participated in the ¡®Exhibition for the Celebration of the Reunification of Hong Kong with China¡¯. In the same year, he exhibited his artworks in Guangzhou International Art Exposition. In 2003, he represented Hong Kong in the International Abilypmics Poster Design Contest and Silk Painting Contest. In 2004 and 2005, he participated in various exhibitions, e.g., the International VSA Arts Festivals and Henderson ArtReach Project. He was also invited to exhibit his works in the ¡®Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition for the Celebration of PRC National Day¡¯ and ¡®International Festival of Inclusive Arts 2006¡¯ and to give a painting demonstration to the public. He was the champion of the watercolor painting contest in Hong Kong Abilympics 2007 and represented Hong Kong to compete in the International Abilympics in Japan.
Gao Nan is skilled in paintings of scenery of mountains, countryside, snow mountains and the forest. His paintings of the modern young ladies are characterized as being free and easy, passionate and optimistic, creating his unique sound world from his silent life. Many of his paintings are collected by various collectors from the US, Canada, UK, Japan, Denmark and Taiwan, etc.
Mr. Gao Nan was born in Sichuan in 1963. He learnt painting from the Chinese painting artist Mr. Sun Xuegong, water colour artist Mr. Luo Chibing and Mr. Kanglian.
In 1982, his work ¡°Painting of the Three Gorges¡± was chosen to participate in the ¡°Art Exhibition for the National Handicapped Person¡± and was also selected to the ¡°Art Exhibition for the International Handicapped Person¡± in Spain and Yugoslavia.
In 1992, he took part in ¡°The Art Exhibition of the Master Sun Xuegong and His Apprentice¡±.
In 1993, he again took part in the ¡°Art Exhibition for the International Panda Festival in Chengdu¡± as well as the ¡°Art Exhibition of Sichuan Province¡±.
In 1994, he settled down in Hong Kong. One year later, he held his solo art work exhibition in the City Hall in Hong Kong.
In 1997, he participated in the ¡°Exhibition for the Celebration of the Reunification of Hong Kong with China¡±. In December of the same year, he exhibited his art works in the Guangzhou International Art Expo. Most of his art works were collected by collectors from the United States, Canada, Japan, England, Denmark, and Taiwan. Mr. Gao Nan is skillful in painting the scenery of mountain, countryside, snow mountain and the forest. His paintings of modern young ladies are characterized by the carefree, optimistic and sentimental spirit, which created his unique audio world in his quiet world.
