Feng Linzhang
male, born in 1943, pseudonym Yu Lin (rain and forest), is a native of Tangshan, Hebei province. He is now a member of the Hebei Chinese Artists Association, principal of the Calligraphy and Painting Academy of Tangshan and chief executive of the Yi Duo Calligraphy and Painting Society. He is rated as a high-ranking artist.
Feng was apprenticed to Hou Jutan in his early years and advanced his studies under close supervision of accomplished Chinese painting masters Li Yuxing and Wang Xuetao. Chinese painting is the main medium of his art so are watercolour and pottery. In order to find inspiration and open up a completely new realm of creation for himself, he loves to take provoking trips to famous mountains and rivers. With his attentive study in painting techniques and the urge for innovation in style, he succeeds in bringing the splash-ink technique into the very texture and elaborate of contemporary Chinese Gongbi paintings in a meaningful and unpredictable way. At the same time, fore, rhyme and rhythm are united in his works.
Feng¡¯s works have been shown in his solo exhibitions and many other group shows staged in different places in China, as well as in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Italy, Japan, Malaysia and Hong Kong. In 1986, he was awarded the Distinctive prize by the Tokyo Modern Ink-and-wash Painting Association. His publications include ¡°Paintings by Feng Linzhang¡±, etc. |
