1940年 生于河北正定县的诗书世家，祖父成之公是末代秀才、山水画家，家传甚严，自幼受其影响，酷爱绘画。

1957年 考入北京艺术学院预科，1960年升入本科，受教于吴冠中先生工作室专习油画，1963年毕业后从事美术教育工作长达15年。

1978年 调入全总文工团，从事舞台美术工作，并因此有幸于随团演出、拍摄之机，遍游祖国美丽山川，为此后的油画风景画创作打下 基础。

1989年 在北京与五位同学联合举办了“六人画展”。

1990年 应邀赴新加坡举办个人画展。回京后与李秀实共同筹备“中华美术研究院”，并成功地组织举办了“首届风景油画展”，并有画册出版。

1991年 参加在北京历史博物馆举行的“吴冠中师生作品展”，后移至香港展出。

1992年—1993年 分别有作品参加第一、二届“中国油画年展”，作品均被收藏。

1995年 参加广州“中国第二届艺术博览会”，同年为全国政协创作《海南情》。

1996年 在北京国际艺苑举办个展。

1997年 在台北、台中市举办个展，作品均被收藏，台湾出版《王昌楷画集》。

1998年 由日本浩庸株式会社承办，在东京三越画廊举办个展。

1999年 受吴冠中先生委托，参加筹备“吴冠中画展”事宜。同年作品《三月》参加中国油画学会主办的“中国山水画与油画风景画展”

2000年 参加“澳门回归画展”。

2001年 参加题为“天香庭院”的北京艺术学院校友画展。

2003年 在深圳何香凝美术馆举办个展

 

历年来共有几十幅作品被中国对外展览公司展出、收藏。

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Was born in Zhengding county of Hebei province in 1940. Nurtured by traditional Chinese culture since his childhood. For his grandfather was a skilful writer and landscape painter at Qing dynasty and influenced by him, Wang Changkai deeply devoted himself into painting.

In 1957 he entered the preparatory class of Beijing Art Academy and directly went to the study of undergraduate course in 1960. He specialized in oil painting in the workshop of Mr. Wu Guanzhong. From 1963, he had engaged in the art education career for 15 years.

In 1978 he began to be a stage artist. So it was very convenience for him to travel all over the country with the performance troupes, which made a profound basis for his future landscape oil paintings.

In 1989 he attended Six Painters Exhibition with his five former classmates.

In 1990 he was invited to hold his solo exhibition in Singapore. Arranging the Art Researching Institute of China with Li Xiushi after he came back to Beijing. Moreover, he organized the First Exhibition of Landscape Oil Paintings and the catalogue was published at the same time.

In 1991 his paintings were on show in the Group Exhibition of Wu Guanzhong and His Students in History Museum of Beijing. This exhibition was also held in Hong Kong.

In 1992-1993, his paintings were selected to attend the First and Second Annual Oil painting Exhibition of China. All of them were collected.

In 1995 he attended the Second Art Exposition of China in Guangzhou. He created “Passion to Hainan” for the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

In 1996 he held his solo exhibition in International Art and Literary Circles of Beijing.

In 1997 he held his solo exhibition in Taipei and Taizhong. All of his works on show were collected. And “Catalogue of Wang Changkai” was published in Taiwan.

In 1998 he held his solo exhibition in San Yue Gallery of Japan.

In 1999, authorized by Mr. Wu Guanzhong, he took part in the arrangement of Solo Exhibition of Wu Guanzhong. Artwork “March” was on show in the Exhibition of Landscape in Chinese Paintings and Oil Paintings, which was hosted by Oil Painting Association of China.

In 2000 his work was displayed in the Exhibition for Macau’s Regression.

In 2001 he attended the group exhibition of the schoolfellows from Beijing Art Academy named “Fragrant Courtyard”.

In 2003 he held his solo exhibition in He Xiangning Art Gallery in Shenzhen.

7 of his works have been displayed and collected by the External Exhibition Company of China.
