Penetrating Warmth – Wu Jiafu Solo Exhibition

Wan Fung Art Gallery is going to present the exhibition ‘Penetrating Warmth — Wu Jiafu Solo Exhibition’ from 11-25 July 2009. It will exhibit 30 works painting by our distinguished Hong Kong artist Mr Wu Jiafu, with the theme of Buddhism, Country Life and Flowers, which all give us heart-warming and soul-uplifting feelings. At the exhibition opening, Mr Wu will be present to share with the audience his art experience.

Wu Jiafu, distinguished Hong Kong artist, was born in Taishan County of Guangdong Province in 1950. He studied Painting and Graphic Design in Guangzhou Art Academy as an amateur in the 70s and 80s. Now Wu is a researcher of China Institute of Fine Arts, a member of Chinese Artists Association (Guangdong Branch), a member of Guangdong Oil Painting Research Committee, a member of Japan JCA (ICO) International Originator Committee.

Wu Jiafu is good at flower-and-bird painting, landscape painting and figure painting. He boldly applied acrylics onto Chinese rice paper and combined the painting techniques from China and the West. Under his skilled hands, his objects are of accurate forms and shapes, with colors so soft and bright, and dimensions and spatial depiction so loyal to our real sight. His style is simple and honest, warm and delicate.

Wu Jiafu has held numerous exhibitions in Hong Kong, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Taipei, Singapore and Canada. He has published The Art of Wu Jiafu. His works and chronicle were collected in Dictionary of Contemporary Outstanding Calligraphers and Painters of China and Dictionary of Contemporary Famous Calligraphers and Painters in the World.

Wu Jiafu
was born in Taishan County, Guangdong Province in 1950. He is now a member of the Chinese Artists Association, the Guangdong Branch, and the Guangdong Oil Painting Research Association, and executive secretary and member of the standing committee of the Guangzhou Young Artists Association. He is also a member of both the JCA（ICO）International Creators Organization of Japan and the Hong Kong Art Research Association.

He attended advanced classes for painting and two-dimensional design at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 1974 and 1980. He is skilled at ink and color, flower-and-bird, scenery and figure paintings. His works are highly decorative and artistic. His painting, which combines both traditional Chinese technique and western techniques, has brought about a series of heavy color drawing styles. He is good at painting Buddhist subjects and animals like small chickens. He has held a number of solo exhibitions in Taipei, Hong Kong, Beijing and published the solo work of,“Painting Album By Wu Jiafu”.
