Exhibition Introduction
Spring is the best time to plan and do the year''''''''s work. Whenever springtime is coming, people in all countries would expect a good start of the year. In China, spring is regarded as the most important season in which people describe and express their wishes and blessings in all kinds of ways.
In the realm of Chinese Art, the talented artists are also good at creating works of art to extend their good wishes. For example, peony symbolizes wealth and social status; swimming fish means may things go well as one wishes; flowers symbolizes vigor and vitality. The colorful paintings encourage people to face the new challenges ahead with confidence, thus bringing joy and harmony to the society.
The changeable year of 2008 has come to the end. Wan Fung Art Gallery hope for a good beginning of the year upon the arrival of spring. Hong Kong is a blessed city of China and our people always have the courage and ability to face and overcome difficulties. We trust that the financial tsunami will not stop us from marching forward.
To this end, we have selected about 30 paintings which bear auspicious meaning by famous Chinese artists through this art exhibition called ‘Coming of Good Fortune – Chinese New Year Art Exhibition’. The plentiful paintings convey message of luck and goodwill, we hereby dedicate to and share with you all!
