Most of us have tried to draw with a pencil. However, have you ever made a drawing with a burin? Wan Fung Art Gallery proudly presents to you the “Ancient Rhyme: Print Art Exhibition of Dai Bin” from 17 - 29 August in Hong Kong Wan Fung Art Gallery. The production of prints is different from general paintings. Wood engraving begins with an accurate and detailed sketch of the subject. Carve and then paint, and finally being printed on paper. This particular painting manner is called ‘Prints’. Printmaking is a combination of sculpture art and painting which the difficulty is greatly increased.
Dai Bin, the new master of Anhui prints. No matter the decorative patterns on ancient blue and white porcelain, or the whole picture of Chinese landscape, Dai Bin can skillfully use his meticulous carving techniques, carving out the texture, brightness, shadows, distance of an object, coupled with the use of different colors, he presents his awesome paintings with many layers in front of the audiences. Most of his painting theme relates to Huizhou culture in Ming and Qing Dynasties, but also diverse. For example, carving on some old buildings; dragon and phoenix pattern on the blue and white porcelain; messy tangle of branches.
Print art combines sculpture and painting these two elements, which bring us a double visual enjoyment. The Prints from Dai Bin must bring a new experience for everyone.

Biography of Dai Bin:

Dai Bin was born in 1948 in Wannan, graduated from Teachers College in Maanshan, fine arts. He is a member of Chinese Print Artist Association, the new master of Anhui prints and a professional painter.
He engaged in printmaking in 1970s, his works have been selected in the National Art Exhibition, and got several awards. Part of the works exhibited abroad, and collected by Chinese Art Museum, China Printmaking museum. In 1990, his works were collected into the ‘List of Chinese Painters’ and ‘Chinese Artists Dictionary’.

In 1974 October:
His print ‘Flowers Competition’ participated in the National Art Exhibition, Collected by Chinese Art Museum, and was sent to the Eastern European countries for display.

In 1983 November
His print ‘First Snow’ participated in the National Print Exhibition which organized by the Chinese Artists Association, China Prints Art Association and China Petrochemical Corporation and won the gold award, and included in 1983 prints Yearbook.

In 1984 February
He was approved to be a council member of the China Association of Print Artists.

In 1987 October
His print ‘The White Dragon’ was sent to Japan for display.

In 1993 November
He held exhibitions in Singapore and Malaysia.

In1996 October
He held an exhibition in Hong Kong.

In 1997 July
His Art Album ‘A Collection of Modern Decoration Paintings’ published by Beijing World Publishing Corporation.
