Foreword
Poon Yeuk Fai and Tsui Yuen are two outstanding artists among our young Hong Kong contemporary artists. Many of Poon’s artworks focus on the facial expression of young ladies, with a high-angle view. Through his paintings, audience can look into the inner world of the ladies. Poon often uses soft and warm colour tone in his works. Using slightly distorted figures, his paintings present a strong visual impact and modern sense. They are also very innovative and unique.
The artworks of Tsui Yuen are highly decorative and surrealistic. In reality, you can see flowers in the garden and fishes in the sea, but you will never see them in the same place. However, that is possible in Tsui’s world of art. In her works, the beautiful flowers and fishes together form the subject of the painting, showing a sense of harmony beyond imagination. Nowadays, the artistic environment is influenced by the capitalistic and opportunistic society. Many people are lost in this materialistic world. Some artists may have forgotten their original purpose of being an artist. Poon Yeuk Fai and Tsui Yeun are the ones who are still faithful to their belief in art and beauty.

 Tsui Yuen
Female, was born in 1966 in Jiangsu Province, China. She graduated in 1990 from the art Department of Nanjing Normal University. She moved to Hong Kong in 1991 and worked as designer for several years. Since 1996 she has been a keen participator in art education. Her works have been exhibited in many group exhibitions in Hong Kong. The colors of her works are lovely, tender, harmonious, and very feminine.

 Poon Yeuk Fai
Male, was born in 1963 in Fujian Province, China. He was a visiting scholar in Beijing Xu Beihong Studio in 1987 and the Oil Painting Department of the Chinese Central Institute of Art from 1988 to 1991.
His strength is oil painting. He is keen on trying out with different skills, understands and inherits traditions. He thinks painting is a way to explore one’s feelings, these big girls he paints are the expressions of the teenagers’ self-positioning in society, his works represent their ways to balance themselves.
